The icebreaking season ended on May 17

On Monday 17 May, the icebreaker Ale ended this year's icebreaker season - a season with more ice and more need for icebreaking than in several years. This season, all five of the Swedish Maritime Administration's state icebreakers have had to assist traffic throughout the country. In addition to the Gulf of Bothnia, where there is always ice, the icebreakers have also worked in Gävlebukten, Göta älv, Vänern and Mälaren. Anders Dahl, icebreaker manager at the Swedish Maritime Administration, emphasized that auxiliary icebreakers in the form of their work vessels Baltica and Scandica, and also vessels from external actors, have been called in.
