The decision means an increase for haddock and herring, a reduction for lobster and an unchanged quota for cod in the North Sea and Skagerrak, and a reduced by-catch quota for cod in the Kattegat.
Every year, EU fisheries ministers decide on quotas for the North Sea, which concern Swedish fishermen fishing in the North Sea, Skagerrak and Kattegat. The decision on the 2022 fishing quotas was taken after negotiations at the Agriculture and Fisheries Council meeting in Brussels on 12-13 December.
