Unknown wreck detected

The Swedish Maritime Administration's sea survey vessel Jacob Hägg has discovered a previously unknown shipwreck. The wreck was made at the height of Holmsund outside Umeå and is estimated to be almost 74 meters long.

- We find shipwrecks close by, but most often they are wrecks that have been known since before. What makes the wreck outside Umeå more exciting and interesting is that so far we have not been able to establish her identity, something that is more unusual, says Magnus Hovberg, production manager at the Swedish Maritime Administration's department for maritime geography.
