The Swedish Transport Agency's preliminary statistics for 2021 show that 21 people died in recreational boating accidents in Sweden, compared with 29 fatalities in 2020. Two people died and are missing in maritime accidents in Swedish commercial shipping.
Of the 21 people who died in recreational boating accidents, two are women and the remaining men. Nearly half, nine people, died on lakes, five in the archipelago, four in port environments and four at piers. Three of the accidents are connected to jet skis.
